Why the Interweave+ Membership is Actually Worthwhile

Let the Interweave Knits Winter 2024 issue transport you to a winter wonderland of cozy knits! This remarkable edition features 14 extraordinary projects to immerse yourself in the uniqueness of specially crafted yarns.

We’ve all made the mistake of signing up for a membership or subscription that either isn’t what it promised to be, or which doesn’t end up making sense for our lifestyle. If you’re worried that an Interweave+ membership will fall into that category, let me help you put your mind at ease as someone who has definitely signed up for subscriptions I regret.

Here are just a few examples of memberships that I have personally signed up for that were not a good fit for my lifestyle:

  • a gym membership that I signed up for in January of 2020 . . . right before a global pandemic
  • a meal prep kit that resulted in just so much food going bad in my refrigerator
  • a monthly box of snacks from around the world, most of which I didn’t end up enjoying

It’s hard to know whether a membership is going to work for your lifestyle, but I feel certain that my Interweave+ membership won’t end up being one I regret. Here are just a few things this very special membership has going for it:

1. You Get Access to Just So Many Patterns

I’m a knitter and a crocheter, and the main thing that has me so excited about Interweave+ is the sheer number of patterns available to me. There are over 8,000 projects and patterns included for unlimited download in the membership, and more than 3,700 of those are knitting patterns!

I typically knit about two projects per month, which would mean I would need something like 150 years to knit them all. It’s an incredible value, which we all know isn’t always the case with subscription memberships.

2. Connect with Fellow Geeks Without Leaving the House

Much as I liked to think I would make friends at the gym, it just never even came close to happening. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, has made tons of friends at the gym. I was feeling a little down about this, when I realized that the reason she succeeded where I did not is that she has a genuine passion for exercise. I simply do not. What I do have a passion for is crafting and making things with my hands.

The Interweave+ membership allows you to create a profile and comment on patterns you’re working on, have made, or would like to make. You can also mark your favorite patterns, which will show up on your profile. It’s a great way to get to know knitters, crocheters, beaders, and jewelry artists who like to make similar projects! It’s also a great way to get help with what you’re working on and to knit along with others around the world.

3. Patterns Never Go Bad

Trends come and go and some of the styling from the early issues of the Interweave magazines may feel a little bit dated today. But with an updated color scheme and styled by you, a pattern never truly goes out of style. Some of our oldest knitting patterns, for example, are still among our most popular today. Contrast this to the meal kit subscription that used to fill my fridge with rapidly expiring spinach.

With Interweave+, you can download as many patterns as you like, across all your devices, and save them for when you’re ready to knit them. You can also read every past digital issue of Interweave Knits, Beadwork, Interweave Crochet, and Interweave’s other titles. There will also always be new patterns, projects, and articles coming to the platform to keep things fresh!

4. Interweave+ Can Meet You Where You’re At

Much as I thought 2020 would be the year where I finally built up some really epic biceps, it turned out that it was more so the year of sitting on my behind and baking lots and lots of cookies. While there are some years where you will create more and some seasons where you will create less, for most of the crafters I know, it’s always a part of life in some capacity. Because an Interweave+ membership is less expensive than buying even one individual pattern per month, your craft can ebb and flow naturally as your life dictates.

Part of your membership is a weekly newsletter to help you stay engaged with what’s new and trending on the platform, so you can always jump in and start a new project right away. Your next pattern is always just a quick download away! Plus we’ve got tons of technique articles so you can learn that new technique you’ve been meaning to try, whenever the creative energy strikes.

5. You Can Try Something New

This is what I was trying to achieve with that subscription box of snacks around the world. Unfortunately, it turns out that I like cookies and candies from around the world a lot less than I thought. And I didn’t get to pick exactly what I wanted to try, or how much of it! With Interweave+, all four of our craft communities are included in that one low price.

You can try just one crochet pattern if you’re a jewelry artist, or add basic beading to your repertoire if you usually knit. Or not! It’s still a great deal even if you stick with your one craft of choice.

  1. All of this might be a valid argument for knitters, but what about jewelry makers? That’s the only thing I’m interested in. I don’t really want to wade through content about knitting and beading to get to it. I’m not seeing that much new jewelry making content here — unless it’s hiding somewhere? I really valued Lapidary Journal when it came out every two months. I don’t think this site can ever take its place.
