what else do you think?

Based on your comments, it seems like there are some very down-to-earth reasons for taking up the craft. The freedom of creating something that no one else judges. The satisfaction of creating something tangible at the end of a work day that involves little but intangibles. The opportunity to create something unique; something that can't be mass produced. The relaxation. The feeling of accomplishment.

Here's another question: Does belonging to a crochet-related community have anything to do with it? Do you get together with other people so you can crochet together? Even just with a friend over lunch at work? I set up a poll in the forum…

On a completely unrelated note, I came across perhaps the tackiest declaration of crochet love I've ever seen. I love it.
