Their Thoughts: The Interweave Crochet Accessories Designers

The first thing I do after finishing a project, and to be honest at several steps during the crocheting process, is to show off my crochet to friends, coworkers, and random stranger. So imagine how difficult it is for our talented designers to create their original patterns and then not be able to tell the world. The actual design work for the Accessories issue actually started around April of this year. That is a long time to keep something this cool of a secret.

But now that the Interweave Crochet Accessories 2012 issue is out, the designers can tell you all about their design process, show you the color alternatives they have used, and tell you in their own words why each design is special.

Fennel Hat by Ellen Gormley

Do you see a pattern and immediately wonder what it would look like in different colors? Visit Ellen's blog to see what colors she originally worked this textured hat in.

Zylphia Necklace & Earrings by Robyn Chachula

Robyn also designed the Dreidel Plushie, the Bearsden Plaid Scarf, and the Evening Bloom Purse. She was very ambitious this year! Robyn also knows that sometimes projects don't work out exactly as you had planned, and you have to play with both the yarn and the design. Find out more about her adventures on her blog.

Natalie Cowl by Shelby Allaho

After reading Shelby's blog I am even more in love with this versatile cowl. Shelby originally designed this vintage piece in fabric before playing with crochet ribbing and the perfect lace design for the focal point. Also be sure to check out the different ways this cowl can be worn.

Vega Cowl by April Garwood

Accessories are the perfect opportunity to play with luxury yarn. April was delighted to discover that she would be crocheting this quick and easy crochet cowl in 100% cashmere. Find out more on her blog.

Pleiades Shawl by Chelsea Norquay-Wales

What do you do on vacation? Why, design a gorgeous crochet motifs shawl of course. Chelsea tells the story of this shawls creation on her blog.

Check out the rest of this year's fabulous accessories in the Interweave Crochet Accessories 2012 preview. There are great projects for beginning crocheters as well as advanced crocheters.
