The Perfect Free Crochet Stocking Pattern

Join us at Maker Festivals Pennsylvania, the ultimate crafting extravaganza in Lancaster from July 31-August 3, 2024, and we will once again be bringing our fiber artists with us! Our festival lineup will have thousands of fiber artists, and jewelry makers!

"Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house

Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse

The stocking were hung by the chimney with care . . ."

~Clement Clarke Moore

Okay, wait a minute. I sure hope I don't have any mice, and while I do have a free-standing stove that helps drive away the chill of below zero temperatures, I don't have a traditional chimney. But this year I would like to add several color-coordinated stocking to my holiday decor. And of course the stockings need to be crocheted.

I turned to you, the Crochet Me members for the perfect pattern. There are several fabulous and free crochet stocking patterns available in the Free Member Patterns section.

My first option is the Crochet Christmas Sockings by poochibaby. I love the button and flower embellishment! And the stripes would allow me to create several in a variety of colors to match my decorations and would be a great way to use up bits of leftover skeins.

Tiny stocking would look adorable on my tree or on a holiday wreath or garland. Or I could include these Amigurumi Christmas Stocking by amiguria with an amigurumi gift. They would look great as an embellishment on a brightly wrapped gift. There are so many possibilities!

This full-sized stocking by cRAfterChickcom is perfect for beginning crocheters. I love the addition of the initials. You could also embellish these stocking with star, tree, or ornament motifs.

Amy L.'s Christmas Stocking is also perfect for beginning crocheters and has a classic shape that I love. This fabulous design would definitely fit a tasty orange, family friendly movie, and a few other little gifts (the items I traditionally found in my own stocking as a child).

And finally this little stocking ornament pattern by cRAfterChickcom. I could whip up a pile of these in an evening, and they would be perfect to attach to gifts this year. Using only a few yards of yarn, these would also be fabulous stashbusters.

So, what do you think? Which pattern should I crochet first and which one would you like to add to your own decor?

Best wishes,
