The Crochet Ministry Is Good News
Betsy over at Craftivism just wrote about an article in the Charlotte Observer that tells the story of a crochet group that meets at a soup kitchen in town.
"Nobody comes here just to crochet," explains Brigitte Henderson, who joined three years ago.
What they do come for is often tough to put a finger on.
A purpose … a sense of belonging … the thought of a chair waiting at a table full of friends. "The first day I came here," says Sally Carter, 69, "there was a feeling that I was in the right place, a feeling that this is where I needed to be."
It's a beautiful story about the connection people can create when so much else in their lives is hard. And crochet is right at the centre of it.
