The Color of 2015

Panetone has come out with their color for 2015, and I am really excited.  The new color is Marsala, and it's a gorgeous shade! You might recognize the name as the same as that used to identify a rich wine from Sicily. This color has the same deep burgundy hue. Panetone says of the color, "A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls."

So, why do I think it's a great color for 2015? Like many of my friends and family, 2014 was a tough year. My hope for 2015 is a much calmer year with more time to spend on my creative endeavors and health-this year I will get in good enough shape to run a 10k.

Marsala is a wine that is often used in cooking, so while it has significant influence on the final dish, it is just one line in the recipe. The same is true for color in your crochet project. The color has a huge visual impact, but the silhouette and stitch pattern have to be added before you have a finished piece.

So how should you apply this gorgeous color to your crochet projects? I would use it for garments and accessories that are warm and comfortable but still retain an elegance that allows you to easily wear them out. Panetone also recommends this color as an accent in your home décor.

While you can use a Marsala colored yarn with any crochet pattern, here are some elegant and comfortable projects to inspire you.

Best wishes,

P.S. What do you think of Marsala as the color of 2015?
