Don’t Miss Tapestry Crochet at Interweave Yarn Fest!

Have you been looking through Interweave Crochet Spring 2018 and wishing you knew more about tapestry crochet? You may just need to make the trek to Interweave Yarn Fest!

Daniela Nii will be teaching everything you need to know to make your favorite projects from the Spring issue. If you want to try your hand at the Expedition Backpack or the Sundance Tote, take this class. The technique looks difficult, but it’s surprisingly simple if you know basic crochet stitches.

Tapestry crochet is a colorwork technique that creates a dense fabric with no strands showing on the private side of the work, which makes it ideal for baskets, bags, coasters, and placemats. Join Daniela to learn how to work the tapestry crochet technique in the round and flat, incorporate multiple colors and change colors, read charts, and even create your own design. You’ll get to practice your new skills by creating a coffee cozy, wrist warmer, or coaster!

Once you know these basics, you’ll have all the skills you need to begin tackling your favorite projects from Interweave Crochet Spring 2018! And because Daniela works closely with all of us at Interweave, she might even have some of your favorite projects from the issue on hand for you to admire up close.

Daniela learned to knit, crochet, and sew in elementary school in Switzerland more than 30 years ago. Today she tries to learn something new with every project, and she uses a diverse range of techniques to produce designs that highlight simplicity and elegance. She is also a freelance technical editor for knitting and crochet and the founder of the Mile High Knitting Guild and She is a stupendous wealth of knowledge and a joy to learn from!

The class is Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 6:00–9:00 p.m. and only $120. Before you sign up for the class, be sure you feel comfortable with basic crochet stitches (such as chain, slip stitch, and single crochet). Be sure to bring 3 light-to-medium colors of a smooth, solid, worsted-weight (CYC#4) yarn so you can see your stitches. Also bring a crochet hook in a size suitable for your yarn and hooks 1–2 sizes larger and smaller so you can find the size that works for you.
