See How Fast and Fabulously We Made Our Fast and Fabulous Projects!

Lantana Scarf by Theresa Schabes, Interweave Crochet, Spring 2014
Here I am, feeling cozy during a day of shopping in Fort Collins Sarah's scarf, made in a lovely sky blue color.
Sarah, our Project Editor, and I fell in love with the Spring Fast & Fabulous project so much, we have both already whipped up our own versions! True to it's name, the Lantana Scarf is indeed both fast AND fabulous. Sarah and I used the same yarn as featured in the magazine, LB Collection Silk Mohair. Might I add… this is a really wonderful and affordable yarn! While we loved the look of different colors as displayed in the magazine, we wanted to see how the scarf would turn out in a solid color. Something great to note, the scarves we made used under one ball of yarn. As you can see it does change the look!

The Lantana Scarf makes a perfect project for a gift! The open work of the pattern combined with the easy to memorize instructions mean that you can crochet this up in a jiffy. Additionally, there are many ways to customize to the tastes of you or the recipient.

  • Color: 4 colors, 2 colors, solid – it dramatically changes the overall look of the project. Another idea would be to double the size of the color blocks.
  • Length: with a bit of math, you can add or subtract beginning chains to alter the overall length of your project.
  • Width: the scarf can easily turn into a shawl by simply continuing the row repeat to your desired size.
  • Fringe: add some fringe or leave it off, you could even do the fringe in a different color.

Alright so, I may or may not made another Lantana Scarf 🙂

For this one, I chose a fun copper shade and made it a bit wider than my first scarf. Additionally, I felt that it needed some fringe! It's going to be difficult, but this baby will be given to a friend for a birthday present. The sunny color will be sure to brighten up a few Winter days, don't you think?

I would love to see how you customize your Fast and Fabulous Scarf so please share!
