Pattern of the Week: Sumptuous Sandals
A good pair of sandals is essential for summer. I have a favorite pair I practically live in from May through August, but this year they’ll be supplanted by the Sumptuous Sandals! These fabulous shoes are perfect for just about any warm-weather outfit. Designer Brenda K. B. Anderson chose a gorgeous embroidery pattern and the perfect summery colors for the sample photographed in Interweave Crochet Spring 2018, but if her selections aren’t your jam, you can easily customize these to your taste and existing wardrobe pieces. I have a pair of espadrilles I’m not crazy about anymore, and I’m excited to try this pattern on them! They’re going to be so cute. I can’t wait to create a closet full of customized sandals using Brenda’s super clever “paint by number” approach to embroidery!
If you love this pattern as much as I do, grab your favorite pair of sandals and attach crochet to create your own stunning shoes! If you’re looking for a quick project, leave them as simple crochet slip-ons; if you’re feeling more ambitious, add embroidery using the same technique found in the Flourishing Purse for a coordinated look.
