Pattern of the Week: Expedition Backpack

The Expedition Backpack was a ton of fun to make. Its colorwork pattern changed often enough to keep the work interesting, but wasn’t complex enough to leave you frustrated. The backpack uses the extended center single crochet stitch to create its textured pattern. New to the extended center single crochet stitch? Be sure to grab a copy of the issue to see the accompanying article on 4 variations for single crochet that work for tapestry. The article walks you through how each stitch is done and includes a swatch photo to show what each variation looks like. The article features the same Red Heart Yarns Creme de la Creme cotton, and the same colorwork pattern as the backpack so each variation is easy to visualize.

This tapestry crochet backpack uses the extended center single crochet stitch to create its intricate patterning. The easy drawstring fastening lets you wear it in a multitude of ways, and the large size leaves plenty of room for all your yarn. There is so much to learn from Interweave Crochet Spring 2018, and the lessons are nothing but cute!
