Perfect Crochet Gifts for a Busy Schedule

Join us at Maker Festivals Colorado, the ultimate crafting extravaganza in Loveland from April 10-13, 2024, where the beloved Yarn Fest evolves with an exciting addition of beads and jewelry artists!

This has been one of those joyful years- full of babies and weddings along with the normal birthdays and holidays. Subsequently, I have been making a lot of handmade gifts while balancing and a busier than normal schedule. I love quick, easy, and innovative crochet gifts.

I have a collection of Interweave Crochet magazines that I pull off my shelf or up on my computer when I am searching for the perfect quick gift project. Let me share a few of my favorites with you:

crocheted gifts   Earlier this year, I whipped up the Blueberry Trellis Hat from Interweave Crochet Accessories 2011 for a good friend and coworker. The cable band is a great easy introduction to cables and can be quickly memorized. The rest of the hat is worked in half double crochet and can be completed very quickly. Then have fun choosing the perfect button to accent your friend's personality. I loved this hat and will definitely be making it for another gift in the future.

If you are looking for a quick scarf that doesn't require a lot of concentration, I would recommend the Rapunzel Scarf, also from Interweave Crochet Accessories 2011. I found this easy scarf to be a very fast project. Two strands of worsted weight yarn are held together to create warm textured stitches, and this makes a fabulous travel project. Just make sure you have enough room at the end when you are braiding the individual strips. Watching the braid form is one of the best parts of this pattern.

I loved the idea of a scarf that was patterned after paper chain garland, and my niece loved to play with the chain links of this whimsical scarf. The chain links are joined to the scarf as you go, just like a paper garland, and it is fun to watch the scarf grow with each section. Piper's Chain Scarf is also a fabulous stash busting gift. Interweave Crochet Accessories 2010 is full of quick hats, innovative scarves, and fabulous bags that also make great gifts.

crochet mittems   The Orchard Mitts from Interweave Crochet Fall 2009 are a great gift for anyone who works in an office. I have made at least half a dozen of these cozy mitts for myself, family, and friends. The spike stitch creates interesting texture and looks amazing in both variegated and solid yarns. When you make a pair of these for a gift, make sure you have enough yarn to make a pair for yourself as well. It makes the gifting much easier. You might also want to check your stash for enough yarn to make the amazing brimmed cap and fabulous shell socks in this issue.

I have a full set of Interweave Crochet with many dogeared issues full of gift ideas. Take this opportunity to complete your own Interweave Crochet collection now and find the perfect gift for whomever is on your list. Back issues are on sale for a limited time.

Best wishes,

P.S. What is your favorite crochet gift?
