Pattern of the Week: Hot Cocoa Vest

Are you struggling to find the perfect winter project? I know I’ve had quite a time locating something chic, fashion-forward, and fun to make, but Sara Dudek has solved my problem with the brilliance that is the Hot Cocoa Vest. There are lots of fun projects to tackle in Interweave Crochet Winter 2019, but the one project that made me sit upright is the Hot Cocoa Vest. I have been a fan of Sara’s designs since seeing her Cuddle Up Poncho from Interweave Crochet Winter 2018, and she is rapidly becoming one of my favorite designers of crochet garments.

The most impressive part of this vest is the bobble-stitch design on the back. The diamond shapes add a chic appeal to the whole project. The front of the vest is adorable with the leather toggles adding a bohemian look to the design. The worsted-weight Cascade Yarns Pacific, a blend of superwash merino wool and acrylic fibers, and the 5 mm hook size will ensure this vest works up quickly. The difficulty level is low, and a beginner to intermediate crocheter should have no trouble figuring out the pattern.

I would wear this vest with a cool pair of leggings and a long-sleeved knit T-shirt. Add a fun beret or headband and a funky pair of hoop earrings to the look and you will be rocking the vest to its fullest potential. This garment is nice enough to wear to the office, or you can dress it up with some accessories to give it an evening look.
