PATTERN Crochet Slippers TRAVELLER

Introduction

I whipped up these EASY, QUICK TRAVEL CROCHET SLIPPERS….the pattern is very easy and quite quick to make up… and best of all no sewing… apart from hiding yarn ends and attaching the perfect heart… or embellishment…

Attaching the perfect heart at an angle and off centre made it easier to identify which slipper went on which foot… you know LEFT or RIGHT foot…  I know I am getting old… 

Materials List

Yarn:  Patons Wool Blend Aran 63% Wool 27% Acrylic
Hook:  5mm
Stitches:  single crochet
Gauge/Tension:  14sts to 4in; 17 rows to 4in

Terminology:  USA – American crochet terms

Finished Size

Measurements:  Length 9.5in; Width 9in
Size:  UK 5.5 – USA 8 – Europe 38 – Australia – 7

Gauge

Stitches:  single crochet
Gauge/Tension:  14sts to 4in (10cm); 17 rows to 4in (10cm)

The Pattern

Slipper is worked in the round from the toe up, AND  then worked flat.


START WITH TOE
Rnd 1:  With MC, make a Magic loop, ch1, 8sc in loop, join with sl st in ch1.  (8sts)

INCREASE RNDS
Rnd 2:  Ch1, 2sc in next and every st to end, join with sl st in ch1.  (16sts)

Rnd 3:  Ch1, *2sc in next st, 1sc in next st, rep from * to end, join with sl st in ch1.  (24sts)
Rnd 4:  Ch1, *2sc in next st, 1sc in next 3sts, rep from * to end, join with sl st in ch1.  (30sts)
Rnd 5:  Ch1, 1sc in same st and every st to end, join with sl st in ch1..  (30sts) 

Rnd 6-18:  Rep Rnd 5.  
Measures approx. 4.5in from beginning.

DECREASE ROWS
R 19:  Ch1, sc in next 28sts, turn.  (28sts)
R 20:  Ch1, sc in next 26sts, turn.  (26sts)
R 21:  Ch1, sc in next 24sts, turn.  (24sts)
R 22:  Ch1, sc in next 22sts, turn.  (22sts)
R 23:  Ch1, sc in next and every st to end turn.  (22sts)

R 24-33:  Rep Row 23.
Measures approx. 8in from beginning.

INCREASE ROWS
R 34:  Ch1, 2sc in next st, 1sc in next 19st, 2sc in next st, 1sc in last st, turn. (24sts)
R 35:  Ch1, 2sc in next st, 1sc in next 21st, 2sc in next st, 1sc in last st, turn. (26sts)
R 36:  Ch1, sc in next and every st to end turn.  (26sts)
R 37-40:  Rep Row 36..

Slipper shaping complete.  Do not cut yarn.

JOIN TOGETHER WITH SC SEAM
Fold edge with right sides facing and with 4.5mm hook, sc into both loops of each side of heel.  Seam will be on inside of slipper.

FINISH:  Cut yarn and hide ends.

CONTRAST TRIM
With CC, starting at seam, Ch1, sc19 along edge, *sc2tog inside corner of dec row, 3sc in outside corner of dec row, sc2tog inside corner**, sc in next 2sts, rep from * to **, sc 19 ending with ch8, sl st into same st, join with sl st in ch1.  This ch8 forms the loop at back of slipper.  (SEE PHOTO)
Cut yarn and hide ends.

You can now choose to decorate your slipper with an embellishment like a heart, flower or star, making it easy to identify which is left or right.
