Our Favorite Crochet Cozy Patterns

Winter is the time for keeping things cozy. And although we’re good about wrapping ourselves in shawls and blankets, we often leave other important things defenseless against the cold. So this winter, crochet a couple of cozies and keep your teapots, plants, and mugs safe and warm! Crochet cozies are fun projects that you can generally work up in a few hours. (Bonus: because they’re so easy and quick to crochet, you can make a few over the next couple of weeks and give them as gifts this holiday season.)

Read on to see my favorite crochet cozy patterns, then pick your favorite and get stitching!

1. Hedgehog Teapot Cozy

The adorable Hedgehog Teapot Cozy from Interweave Crochet Accessories 2014 is a must-make for me. It’s so dang cute, and it’s practical, too! I make a lot of tea in the fall and winter but I’m a slow drinker, which means my pots of tea usually end up getting cold before I can finish them. This darling teapot cozy is exactly what I need to keep my tea warm to the last cup.

2. Rag Yarn Vase Cozy

A new favorite of mine, the Rag Yarn Vase Cozy from Interweave Crochet Fall 2018 is a great way to add playful cheer to any room. The cozy uses simple stitches, so it’s quick to work up, but the real fun is in creating the yarn! This project uses fabric scraps as “yarn”—to make it, you cut and then string together sheet-weight remnants for a one-of-a-kind yarn. Check your fabric stash for remnants in complementary colors or buy up fun scraps from your local fabric store and then have a blast cutting, stringing, and stitching.

3. Home Grown Plant Cozy

Give your plants a little love and warmth with the Home Grown Plant Cozy from Crochetscene 2017. This simple project is fun to work, and you can adjust the size to make a cozy for all the plants in your home. Use a bright yarn for a fun pop of color, or use neutrals to create a modern look.

4. Coffee Mug Cozy

Keep your beverage warm and your hands comfy with the Coffee Mug Cozy from Crochet to Calm. This fun project whips up in no time, so you can make one for all the mugs in your cupboard. These cute little cozies also make great gifts, so crochet a few in different colors for stocking stuffers or host gifts at holiday parties.

I hope you and all your favorite things stay cozy this winter!
