New Year’s + New Beginnings = Ghost Cone Scarf Crochet-along

New Year’s often feels like a time of new beginnings. But for me, my new beginnings started in October with an exciting new job (Assistant Editor at Interweave Crochet) with a great boss (Marcy Smith) in a beautiful city (Fort Collins) and a nice apartment (washer/dryer included) – woot!

I’m settling in nicely, thank you for asking. And now I’m ready to start the new year with peace in my soul, hook in hand, petal to the medal…and quality time with friends and family thrown in for good measure. I plan to crochet more, mountain bike more and enjoy the journey as well as the destination, wherever life takes me.

Ghost Cone ScarfFirst up, I’m planning my first ever crochet-along! I am super stoked about this and would LOVE for you to join me.

I fell in love with Sue Perez’s Ghost Cone Scarf when it appeared on the cover of Interweave Crochet, Winter 2013. But for some reason, I never found the time to make it…until now!

I’ve started a Ravelry group where we can share pictures, help each other and have fun with this beautiful design. This is a faux broomstick lace pattern. Meaning you don’t need a knitting needle to make it. I’m a big BIG fan of broomstick lace…but super intrigued that we won’t need to put loops on a needle for this project.

Here are the details from the original pattern…which may help you select your yarn/supplies for your scarf.

Designer: Sue Perez

Finished Size: 6″ wide and 60″ long.

Notions: St holder; five ¾” shank buttons.

Yarn: 180 yd [165 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): 6 skeins.

Yarn Weight: #3 – Light

January 15-21, 2015: Order Pattern and Select Yarn and Buttons

January 22-31: Crochet along and Show Off!

Join me in my resolution to crochet more. Don’t have the Interweave Crochet, Winter 2013 issue? No problem the digital issue and individual Ghost Cone Scarf crochet pattern are available at the Interweave Store.

See you on Ravelry.
