My 2014 Crochet Wish List

When thinking about my holiday gift list this year, I found myself wishing I could give more handmade things. As I dive deeper into the world of crochet, I realize how many amazing things there are to make, and how many of them would be perfect for the people on my list. But alas, my limited time and crochet skills won't let me make all the things I want. Well, next year. That gives me plenty of time to make gifts–and take advantage of our awesome 12 Days of Deals sale to get all those patterns on the cheap!
Textured Scrubbies

First up on my wish list is basically everything from our Home 2015 issue. If you haven't seen this gorgeous magazine, I highly recommend you get your hands on one (the print version is on newsstands now; the digital magazine is available in our store). There's something here for everyone on my list. For example, the Textured Scrubbies would be great for my mom–paired with a nice soap, they'd be a fantastic gift! (These would also be a great hostess/host gift for all those holiday parties.)

Aegean Dreams Throw

Speaking of the Home issue, have you seen the Aegean Dreams Afghan? It's so beautiful, and probably one of my favorite projects from the magazine. This is one I'll probably make for myself–it's cozy and soft, and as an added bonus, it matches my living room décor. Best of all, this one comes in a kit on sale in the store RIGHT NOW! (All of our kits are on special sale today as part of our 12 Days of Deals promotion.) There are only 100, though, so get your hands on one before they sell out. You know I'm going to!

Velocity Shawl

The Velocity Shawl from the Winter 2014 issue is gorgeous and totally gift-able. I love the modern, fresh look the chevrons give this shawl. And the contrasting colors make it pop, which I love in an accessory! I'm partial to the deep red and gray in the original design, but I think this shawl would look great in just about any color combination.

My sister has made me several pairs of slippers over the years, so it's probably about time I return the favor. The Ella Crocheted Slippers kit would be perfect–and the kit is also on sale. I love the granny square motif, and the yarn is machine-washable for super easy care. Now I just have to decide between the blue and the pink . . .

Finally, I'm going to grab an Aspen Infinity Cowl kit while they're on sale. This was the Fast and Fabulous feature in the Fall 2013 issue, so it's quick to make (not for me, obviously, but I'm sure you seasoned crocheters could whip one up in no time)–perfect for a holiday gift. The cashmere-feel yarn makes it warm and cozy, and the simple pattern gives it an understated elegance.

There are so many more kits and patterns I want, but this is a good start! Head on over to the store to check out the 12 Days of Deals sale. I'm sure that, like me, you'll find plenty of books, patterns, and kits to love!

Happy crocheting!

Rachel
