Mercedes Convertible Wrap

This wrap does not just take its name from luxury, but also from the many versatile ways in which it can be worn. You can turn it into a bolero, a cowl, a snood, or an elegant shawl for an evening out or at home. All it takes is a Size “I” crochet hook and ONE skein of worsted weight yarn (about 315 yards), which means it’s affordable too.

I use Caron Simply Soft in most of my patterns. I love the myriad of colors available as well as the texture and drape of the yarn, which I find is very well suited for lace patterns. This yarn is also very affordable. Although I highly recommend this yarn, you may use any aran or worsted weight yarn.

This shawl is comprised of mostly shell-based stitches. A beginner may look at this pattern as intimidating, however, I do not feel there are any techniques used that would be overwhelming or difficult for a “rookie” crocheter to learn. Please don’t be afraid to try something new and challenging, as this is the best way to improve your technique.

Pattern Instructions
Mercedes Convertible Wrap is crocheted in three steps:

1. Body
Worked in rows which form the semi-circular body.

2. Straps.
Yarn is cut and two straps are crocheted on either side of the shawl so the shawl can be fastened in numerous styles.

3. Edging
Elegant V-Stitch border is the last part of the shawl and is worked along the bottom edge of the body.
