Make It: Quick Crochet Projects

It's time to breathe a sigh of relief. The holidays are almost over; the gift giving has finished (well all but the few I am still frantically finishing, but my brother and sister are patient souls), and it's time to start contemplating my 2015 goals.

This year I am going to start my crochet gifts early and add to my own stash of crochet accessories. A colorful crochet accessory is the perfect way to add a little color and design flair to your wardrobe, and as gifts you don't have to worry about sizing.

Here's Interweave Crochet's editor, Marcy Smith, to tell you about their special issue and the incredible quick and easy accessories and gifts they've included.

Welcome to Make it!

Crochet. We've gathered together our favorite quick-crochet patterns into a single collection. Ideal for both new crocheters and more advanced crocheters seeking instant gratification, this magazine contains a wide range of projects that use yarn you probably already have in your stash.

To find the right yarn for your project, just seek out the picture of the little yarn ball with a number on it—match up the number in the pattern to the number on your ball band, and starting crocheting! Many of these projects call for just a ball or two. Most of the accessories don't even require an exact match of yarn weight, since gauge isn't critical for scarves and shawls (do be attentive to the weight for the children's sweaters and hats, though!)

I really want to whip up the two-colored Fennel Hat and my own adorable Sir Stephen, the Bunny. And the Cupcake Hats would make great gifts at several upcoming baby showers.
