Hook Into Love of Crochet Summer 2017
I’d love to throw a big beach party with a ginormous bonfire to celebrate the Summer 2017 issue of Love of Crochet magazine with you. I’d hire a live band, bring s’mores fixings, and of course, I’d have a trunk show of all the lovely projects featured in the issue to show you.
Why am I so excited about this magazine? On a personal note, I’m thrilled because it’s the first magazine that I spearheaded from start to finish. I worked alongside a fabulous team to select a diverse group of projects perfect for crocheting and wearing this summer. A big thank you to Sara Dudek (associate editor, Interweave Crochet), Kerry Jackson (graphic designer), Lisa Shroyer (content strategist, yarn and fiber), and Susanna Tobias (project editor, crochet) for their support and expertise in creating a truly beautiful summer collection.
I’m also pleased about this issue because of the beautiful patterns created by so many talented designers. You’ll be as tickled as I am by the designs that can be worn on warm days and cool ones, too. It’s spring after all, and the weather will change overnight! I love the assortment of tops, both long and short sleeve, as well as the lovely shawls and bags that can be found in this issue. In addition to wearables, you’ll find several home décor items to make, including blankets, pillows, and a curtain.
Finally, I’m happy to share with you a couple of new features in the magazine. I was so taken by the Maritime Stripes Shawl that I styled it 10 ways and created a gallery of photos for you. There is also a step-by-step tutorial on hairpin lace and a resources page of fun patterns you can make with this technique. If you’re on social media, be sure to check out our new “Hook Up with Us Online” page, where we feature top stories from our blog, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.
As with every issue of Love of Crochet, the Summer 2017 issue has projects for crocheters of all abilities. It’s important to me that every person who picks up a hook and yarn can find something to crochet in the magazine. This issue has great projects everyone will enjoy.
