Starfish & Surf Crochet Top by Blazenka Simic-Boro

Starfish & Surf Top

Ease into the cooler temperatures of fall with Blazenka Simic-Boro’s Starfish & Surf Top. This lacy tank looks great alone or pairs beautifully with a simple long sleeve-shirt. The top features stripes of star shapes in a neutral color, with contrasting scalloped stripes for interest. Switching out the brighter hues of yarn for jewel tones would give the piece more wearability year-round. This top is stitched in 100% Pima cotton yarn, so it’s lightweight and breathes well for warmer temperatures.

Verdant Vista Top

Savor simple texture with Natasha Robarge’s textured Verdant Vista Top. The subtle stripes of textural stitch patterns create visual interest throughout the top. This is not your classic tee. Dolman sleeves give this pattern a casual yet polished feel when combined with a slightly tapered silhouette. Both the front and back pieces are identical and are seamed at the sides.

Grille Pullover

Pullovers are some of my favorite layering pieces when it begins to get cooler out. The Grille Pullover by Amy Gunderson features an openwork grid-like stitch pattern, and has an open neck perfect for layering over collared shirts. The sweater is stitched with a DK weight yarn made from 100% superwash wool. This makes for a soft and cozy sweater you’ll want to wear all season!

Jailhouse Rock Pullover

Sometimes, traditional stripes are all you need. The Jailhouse Rock Pullover, designed by Melissa Leapman, takes inspiration from Elvis’ iconic striped tee. The horizontal striped pullover is simple to make and does not require shaping, so it’s perfect for beginners and for those getting into colorwork. While there is no shaping, the sweater doesn’t feel boxy and has the ideal amount of ease for a casual fit.

Journey Home Cardigan by Michelle Moore

Journey Home Cardigan

No fall wardrobe is complete without a cardigan. Michelle Moore’s Journey Home Cardigan is perfect for fall mornings and nights. This cardigan features a beautiful cable design on the back that creates visual interest and is fun to create! The sweater is worked in pieces from the bottom up, and the collar is steam-blocked to ensure its curves don’t pucker. The project is stitched with ultra-soft yarn made from a blend of llama and Merino, so you’ll be cozy all fall and winter long.

These five crochet patterns are just a glimpse of what this book has in store. The book has plenty of crochet tips that every crocheter should know. With five patterns in each category—tanks, tees, pullovers, and cardigans—there are plenty of options to polish your crochet techniques.

Learn to Crochet Garments is available in print and eBook editions!
