Amigurumi Crochet Patterns

Amigurumi are loved by everyone from age 8 hours to 88 years, and probably older. One of the great things about crochet amigurumi is that mistakes simply add character and yarn size doesn’t really matter. So they’re forgiving projects for children to try. Many amigurumi are worked in easy single crochet and out of basic spheres and tubes, making them perfect crochet patterns for kids and beginning crocheters. Kids can use your scrap yarn and play with fun colors to create their own unique amigurumi owl, llama, snowman, or jackalope.

Crochet Games are a fun way to practice basic crochet stitches and shapes. And they’re a lot of fun to play inside. Clockwise from top left: Queen Bee Stacking Toy, Checkerboard, Tic-Tac-Toes in the Sand, and Do the Twist Game.

Crochet Games and Toys

Crochet toys are wonderful for indoor play. If someone, and we all know that child, happens to hurl a toy across the room and into the window, a soft crochet toy will harmlessly bounce off with no danger of shattering the glass. Teach a child how to crochet a basic square and then seam them together to create a fun Tic-Tac-Toes in the Sand game or giant crocheted Checkerboard. Simple circles can become the Do the Twist Game. And little hands will love to crochet and play with the rings of the Queen Bee Stacking Toy. Remember, you don’t have to make sure there is a perfect fit like with a sweater. So a few little mistakes in these kids crochet patterns won’t make a big difference.

kids crochet hats accessories

Kids Crochet Patterns: Hats

Crochet hats are another fun way for kids to start crocheting. But it can’t be any old boring crochet hat. For the perfect kids crochet pattern, it needs to be a Monstrous crochet hat or how about a Nessie Balaclava! It just can’t be boring. The Stocking Hat is fun thanks to an exaggerated length and a variegated yarn. And who doesn’t love the dinosaurs of the T.Rex Hat and Mitts? Not only will kids love crocheting a fun themed hat, you’ll also be able to convince them to keep their hat on when the weather gets cold!

Share the joy and fun of crocheting with your kids. Give them a gift that fills them with a sense of pride and keeps them occupied this summer and fall. Show these crochet kids patterns to your children and let them choose their next project. Won’t it be fun to spend an evening crocheting with them?

Happy crocheting,
Toni
