James’s Hat

Author

Kelley Poteat

Introduction

I wanted to crochet a sort of manly looking hat for my boyfriend, but I was unsatisfied with most of the patterns I found that included the “cabled look” I was aiming for. So, I made this one! This pattern could easily be altered and many different types of hats could be made- get creative!

NOTE-There seems to be some confusion when it comes to the creation of the cables, how many there are, and how increases are made. There are six cables. They are created during row 2, by doing the FPDC stitches. Increases are made in each round by dc in the top of the first FPDC. If you have any questions, you can reach me quickly by emailing me-kpoteat@bellsouth.net.

PS- This is the first pattern I’ve written, so if you spot any mistakes or have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks! Send me pictures of your finished products, I’d love to see!

Materials List

  • US 5.50 MM hook (I)
  • Worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Grey Heather)

Finished Size
