Interweave Crochet Summer 2018: Heart of the Sea Keychain
I’ve always had a keychain on my keyring, but lately I’ve been thinking my keys could use an update. After all, I graduated from college over 10 years ago—do I really need 2 keychains from my alma mater? So I was thrilled to see the darling Heart of the Sea Keychains in Interweave Crochet Summer 2018—they’re exactly what I’ve been looking for! This issue is jam-packed with incredible projects, but these little guys are honestly my favorite; they’re cute and fun and can be used for so many things besides keychains. I’ll probably stitch up one or two for my keyring to replace those old ones from college, then make a whole lot more to hang on my bulletin board at work, give to friends and family as little gifts, and even use as Christmas ornaments!
One of the great things about these keychains is that they’re easy to personalize. Stick with a classic palette like blue and white or go nuts with rainbow stripes—whatever suits your fancy! I love the crisp white-and-red stripes in the sample, so I definitely want to make one or two of those (you all know I love stripes). But my keys tend to get tossed into pockets, purses, backpacks, and other random places, so I might crochet the version that actually goes on my keyring in darker colors (I’m thinking maybe red and navy) to prevent staining the yarn.
Created with single crochet stitches, the Heart of the Sea Keychain works up quickly and is easy to take with you when you’re crocheting on the go. Start one this morning and have yourself a personalized keychain before the day is out!
