Pattern of the Week: Poised Cardigan
I’m a huge fan of classic patterns like herringbone, houndstooth, and gingham. But what I love even more are new patterns that look classic. So when I first laid eyes on Natasha Robarge’s Poised Cardigan from Interweave Crochet Fall 2018, it instantly became one of my favorite designs from the issue.
This crochet cardigan pattern uses two colors of yarn and a combination of single crochet, double crochet, and front post treble crochet stitches to create its patterning. And what exactly is that patterning? It looks like houndstooth at a glance, but upon closer inspection, this pattern is definitely doing its own thing! I absolutely love the depth, visual interest, and texture that Natasha has achieved with this stitch pattern.
Equally suitable for the office or the weekend, this cardigan is a wardrobe chameleon that you won’t be able to stop wearing. Dressed up or down, it adds an edgy-yet-refined touch to any outfit. This sweater is fitted through the back and sleeve caps, with subtle waist shaping to balance out the free-folding front. With five sizes to choose from, including plus sizes, you’ll be able to get a fit that’s just right.
Choose a luxurious yarn, like the Kelbourne Woolens Andorra Natasha used for the sample, and the Poised Cardigan will truly delight you every time you pull it on. A touch of mohair combined with merino and highland wool really makes this design something special.
