This vest is perfect under a t-shirt or long sleeved shirt, or even on it’s own in the spring! Easy enough for a beginner.
Caron Simply Soft (2 skeins)
Size 5.00 hook
Worked as a front panel and back panel.
Double crochet into second chain from hook. Single crochet into next chain. *DC into 3rd chain, SC into 4th chain.* Repeat from * to the end of the row.
When you get to the last in the chain, no matter what you end on (DC or SC) the last stitch in the row should be a half double crochet. It makes the edges more solid.
Repeat that same pattern, but in the double crochets on the former row, you do a SC. On the single crochets on the former row, do a DC. At the end, finish with a half double.
Once it’s the approximate length you want, decrease each row towards the top for 4 rows (front and back).
BACK PANEL: Once you have decrease on 4 rows to make arm hole shaping, just continue with the pattern back and forth until the length reaches the neck.
FRONT PANEL: Once you have decreased 4 rows, work the front straps separately. Make them as thick as you want.
Sew panels together inside out.
For the bottom edging: Half double crochets in a round for 6 rows. I decreased on those rows to make the bottom a bit snugger to fit around my hips. But it’s up to you.
Turn right side out. BLOCK.
