Holiday Crochet and a Free Pattern
The theme of my holidays this year is crochet. Hours of relaxing crochet curled up on the couch with a good movie, crochet gifts, crochet accessories, and crochet decorations—I’m looking forward to the next two months.
This morning the grass was covered in hoar frost. That means I can start decorating right? I’m thinking crochet snowflakes, a few special crochet pillows, and strings of crochet holiday lights. I’ve had my eye on the Holiday Lights Garland for a couple of years.
This pattern is easy to adapt to your color scheme. I plan on creating blue, white, and red bulbs on a green string. Each bulb is worked individually, so it is easy to turn the bulbs into single tree ornaments. They would make quick and easy gifts or fun gift tags.
Once my garland is finished, I need to whip up a few quick gifts. Seven of my favorites have been combined in Interweave Crochet Presents: 7 Fast & Fun Gifts to Crochet. I’ve made the Atomic Hat several times already, and I want to try the Picea Hat next. The Seafoam Shawl would also make a great gift. I know Interweave Crochet editor Marcy Smith has made several as gifts. Worked in a luxurious yarn with a touch of cashmere, I want one for myself.
