Broomstick
lace and shells combine in this short-sleeved cardigan, and the top
down construction allows you to customize the length.
Finished Size: 35 ½ (38 ½, 41, 45, 47 ½, 50 ½)” bust circumference, buttoned. Garment shown measures 35 ½”, modeled with 1 ½” ease.
Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Merino DK (100% superwash merino; 225 yd [206 m]/3½ oz [100 g]; ): thyme, 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7) skeins.
Hook: Sizes G/6 (4 mm), H/8 (5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: Size 19 (15 mm) knitting needle or other 5/8″ diameter tool for broomstick technique; yarn needle; three ¾” buttons.
Gauge: 16 sts and 24 rows = 4″ in sc with smaller hook; 4 reps
and 10 rows = 4″ in broomstick patt with larger hook; 3 reps and 10
rows = 4″ in shell patt with smaller hook.
