A Fond Farewell to Interweave Crochet

Interweave Crochet Fall 2021

This is a bittersweet letter to write. After 15 years, we have published the final issue of Interweave Crochet. I started my career in book publishing and consider myself a print person, through and through. There are no e-readers in my home. I like the feel of paper beneath my fingers, the physical act of closing a bookmark between pages, the smell of ink, all those engaging things that make books and magazines unique. Interweave Crochet, in all its printed glory, will be missed by many, including me.

So many smart, talented people have contributed to these pages over the years. I want to take a moment to acknowledge the previous editors who, in the words of Marcy Smith, “conducted the symphony” and shared with us a true passion for crochet. Thanks to the former and current staff at Interweave—from project editors to graphic designers, from assistant and managing editors to online editors and the marketing team. And we can’t forget the designers who gave us a reason to publish. We are forever grateful that you let us be the stewards of your patterns.

Fortunately, as the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens. In our little crochet world, that new door is Interweave+, a subscription site that gives you access to over 1,600 crochet patterns from the back catalog of Interweave Crochet. We’ve built a comprehensive pattern library, so you can easily find and download your favorite patterns. Plus, new content is coming. We’ll continue bringing you the best patterns from top designers.

Looking Forward

We’ve built a community here over the years, and we hope you, will join us on this new platform. Community is a focus of Interweave+, and there will be more opportunities to engage with your fellow crocheters, the Interweave staff, and even designers. We can’t wait to show you what we have in store. For now, however, let’s enjoy this last issue of Interweave Crochet, with nine new patterns perfect for transitioning into fall weather. We also highlight some of our favorite patterns from the Crochetist; a digital publication that focuses on easy, elegant crochet design. Take a peek inside the issue:

It has been a pleasure conducting the symphony, even if for a short time. I can’t wait to say ‘hi’ to you over on Interweave+.

  1. Enjoyed the magazine for years, but NOT pleased with this format. No customer service, no one to contact. Where might we find errata? That doesn’t even come up in the query tool. I WILL NOT RENEW. Goodbye to all companies who take our money but leave us to solve potential problems on our own. Disgusting.

    1. Hi Dianna, We’re sorry to see your frustration at the end of Interweave Crochet magazine. I assure you, we are all very sad to see it go, too.

Errata is where it has always been, at the top of the page. Mouse over Crochet and you’ll see Corrections in the first column on the left. Errata is there.

Regarding customer service, there was customer service information in all the emails and letters we sent to subscribers. There is also a Contact Us customer service option at the bottom of every page on this site. Please feel free to contact customer service with any questions that you have. You mentioned that you will not renew; there is nothing to renew, but customer service can also help you with any refund on your remaining subscription.

Thank you for your support through the years.

  2. How will I receive the balance of my subscription? I received a letter in the mail and followed its instructions but it isn’t clear to me how I get access for the balance of my subscription.

  3. This is sad news indeed. I’ve been a huge fan of Interweave Crochet since the Fall 2005 issue. Every month, I’d scan the racks at my local Barnes & Noble and take the newest issue home – always so excited to read the articles and try new patterns and techniques. I am so sorry that after 16 years, I have to say goodbye!

  4. I have a questions about interweave+ – will there be new patterns added? As a long-time subscriber to Interweave Crochet and having kept all the magazines! – I already probably have all the patterns I want from the 1600 you mention. If there is not going to be new content, subscribing makes no sense for me.

    1. Hi Susan! Yes, new patterns will be added. Our content team has been working with magazine contributors and other crochet pattern designers to create new, exclusive crochet patterns for Interweave+. They’ll start appearing at the first of the year, perhaps sooner. Thank you for your interest!
