Crocheted Afghan Featuring a Variety of Grannies

This afghan was inspired by Jan Eaton’s “200 Crocheted Squares.”  I made if from Caron Simply Soft for my sister — she chose the palette and had input on the design.  She loves Granny Squares, but wanted an afghan that wasn’t “hole-y” all over.  I made a lot of sample squares for her to look at and then we laid out the pattern on graph paper.  I had to use H and J hooks because some of the patterns measured larger than others — generally the tighter weaves needed a J hook to match size with the H hook Granny Squares.
