Crochet Tops for Warm Weather

Crochet tops, sweaters, and cardigans aren't just for cold weather. We have compiled eBooks from several of my favorite designers to share with you some fun and unusual crochet patterns that illustrate their individual view of the possibilities of crochet. I love that many of their designs are perfect for warm-weather designs.

Short-sleeve Cardigans

If you love the feeling of throwing on a delicious crochet cardigan, you don't have to give it up just because the weather is warming up. Shorten the sleeves and you have the perfect layer for a warm spring evening. Leaving your arms free will keep you cool while the body of the cardigan is perfect for evenings with a little nip in the air. Short-sleeve cardigans are also a great way to dress up a pair of jeans, and I always get a little excited when I see a designer has taken advantage of this fun twist on a cardigan.

Did you know that wearing layers can make you look more professional? But in the summer months, a jacket can just be too warm. So how about an elegant crocheted vest? Pair your gorgeous crochet vest with a button-up blouse for the perfect outfit for the office or an evening out. Vests are also a fabulous addition to your cold-weather wardrobe as a median layer.

Openwork Cardigans

Working a long sleeve cardigan in a lacy, openwork stitch pattern allows you to wear your cardigan year-round. The openwork lacy design means the sweater won't hold in your own body heat and allows the fabric to breath. You can also play with color combinations by playing with the contrast of the color of your shirt with the color of the sweater. This is also a great opportunity to play with warmer weather yarns such as cotton and linen. Crochet designers have been able to apply their favorite openwork designs to cardigan silhouettes to create beautiful designs.
