Crochet-Off: DIY Crochet Mandala Wall Hanging

Well, we’re back! The crazy “crochet off” crew had so much fun with the Ghost Ranch Shawlette project that we have decided to do an encore! Summer can be a challenging time for crocheters to find fun projects to do. The mandala craze offers a chance to crochet season-appropriate projects that will look great in the home or make a perfect gift for someone special. This time, our target project is the DIY Crochet Mandala Wall Hanging Kit.

This first post will introduce you to the project. After you get a general idea of what is required to start your own version, we hope that you crochet along with us! We will be following up with our individual yarn selections, how many mandalas each project will include, and details on how each of us is feeling about the process.

2. Love of Crochet, Spring 2017

This magazine has given us many innovative ideas for mandalas, including 7 mandala patterns and the article “10 Ways to Use a Mandala,” to help create unique projects for your wall hanging.

Fill your world with color with 18 patterns for mandalas, motifs, and more in Love of Crochet, Spring 2017. Relax and recharge with a variety of crochet mandala projects including wearable garments and home décor. Plus, learn how to read crochet charts for even faster mandala creation.

3. Embroidery Hoop Set

This set of four wooden hoops with brass closures includes a 4″, 6″, 8″, and 10″ hoop.

This project is about customization. The end result of this kit is only determined by the imagination of the person crocheting the mandalas. I can’t wait to see how all the projects turn out! Sara Dudek has been loving this project. Her WIP post provided great inspiration for all of us. Another of her blogs on this kit digs even deeper into how easy it is!  You too will want to grace your home with a personalized piece of crochet art.

Stay tuned over these next few weeks as we tackle the DIY Crochet Mandala Wall Hanging Kit, one stitch at a time.

Without further ado, we raise our crochet hooks.

On your mark, get set, crochet!

Keep On Hookin’ On,

—Dana Leigh
