Crochet Motifs: Bite-Sized Fun

Motifs!
I love them. I think they are a great way to add something special to…anything.
I love to add a wee flower to the collar of a sweater, or front of a purse. They're great embellishments for handmade objects or ones you get at the store that need a little home-made style. I think tucking a little clover or heart into a card for a loved one adds a special bit of affection.

.
As much as I enjoy adding motifs to my own things, they're even better on items for kids. Our upcoming Spring issue has LOTS of great kid-friendly projects (if you haven't seen it yet, check out the preview here), and one project in particular, Anastasia Popova's Hannah and Hallie Play Sets, are embellished with my latest favorite flower motif.
.
. Here's a little peek of what it looks like on the project.
.
. And here's how I used it on a baby hat (for a co-worker's brand new baby neice!) to add a little extra pizzazz to an otherwise plain bonnet.
.
. What are you doing with motifs these days?

Until next time,

.
