Champa Mandala

Carlson mandala

Lori Carlson designed this mandala in honor and memory of Marinke Slump, known to her online followers as Wink. Wink was beloved by the many people who connected with her online through her crochet blog, A Creative Being. She also struggled with depression. On a Friday night in late June 2015, depression won. To help honor Wink and celebrate her work, our Everyday Crochet columnist, Kathryn Vercillo, initiated the Mandalas for Marinke project, which helps inspire people while also raising awareness about depression. You can learn how you can participate in the project in the Fall issue; to get you started, Lori Carlson created a thread mandala to crochet.
