Cables, Colorwork, and Beanies, Oh My

My go-to gift has always been hats, and I will admit I have a large collection of hats in my own closet. With most of my family in the colder regions of the west, a wool beanie or colorful crochet hat is more than a fashion accessory—it’s a necessity.

Despite the number of hats I have crocheted, I have never gotten bored. In fact, I have learned many new techniques. Try out crochet cables with a quick hat like the Honeysuckle Hat or Atomic Hat. I have made three Atomic Hats and love the easily memorized cable pattern. My sister loves this beautiful hat as well. This year I think I will try the Vines Ear Warmer—another fabulous, and quick, crochet cable pattern.

Or you can whip up a couple of colorwork beanies. Both the Boyfriend Beanie and the Plains hat use variegated yarns to create the illusion of a complicated colorwork design. And did I mention that all of these hats are one-skein projects?

Make a fabulous crochet hat for everyone on your holiday gift giving list—and one for yourself too! Download our One-Skein Hat Pattern Collection and pull out your crochet hooks. You will have a pile of fabulous one-skein crochet hats to wrap in no time.

Best wishes,
