Black Friday + Crochet = Finished Object Genius
Black Friday. To many this day brings deals and bargains galore (unless you handle all your shopping on Cyber Monday). If you’re one of the estimated 156 million who will be hitting the stores during the Black Friday weekend, you’ll be waiting in line at some point. That’s a prime opportunity to do some crafting! Tuck a ball of yarn between the sale flyers in your bag and knock some handmade gifts off your list.
We love these small projects you can stitch while you’re waiting in line!
1. Coffee Mug Cozy from Crochet to Calm
This simple, yet necessary life accessory from Crochet to Calm (which by the way has lots of great holiday gift projects), is an obvious number one. Stitch up this mug cozy while you wait—since you’re likely to have a warm drink in your hands, you can check the sizing on the spot. This cute but simple pattern works up incredibly fast, and you can try it out on your second cup!
2. Snowflake Bunting from Crochet at Home
Do you decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving? Crochet this quick and cute snowflake bunting as you wait for the sales to begin. The longer you wait, the more snowflakes you can add to your bunting. Impress your loved ones with a super-long bunting that proves you’re dedicated to finding perfect gifts!
3. Blackberry Winter Mandala from Modern Crochet Mandalas
Bring a little zen to the chaos that is Black Friday. Crochet it in one color for better portability, and watch the time in line melt away. Did I mention mandalas make cute gifts?
Headbands make great gifts, especially when they feature an oversized crochet cable. If you’re standing in line outside, let the chill inspire you stitch faster. Make one for yourself to keep your ears warm, then make a few more to give away. Hint: You’ll find more fantastic gifting projects in Interweave CrochetFall 2017.
You can probably bust out a few of these while you wait on Black Friday. Make life even easier and order a couple of the Hi-Fi Hat Kits with yarn and faux fur pom-pom included.
Tackle a big project by working one motif at a time. Bring a pair of snips and a few colors of yarn, and you can make square after square. Then block and assemble once you get home.
Blow up some pineapples on Black Friday? Yes! This super-cute hat features pineapple lace in a bulky yarn. Make the pom-pom at home so you don’t have to lug around extra tools.
An easy but intriguing pattern will help the time pass quickly. These striking mitts will make the people around you envious of your crochet skill as well as your bargain-hunting ability!
This awesome scarf only takes 220 yds of any DK-weight yarn. That’s just one skein, people! (But bring along several so you can make more than one that day.)
