I love all things Autumn, especially Halloween. At my office, we've begun decorating for the holidays, but did not have a door decoration for the Fall season. I mentioned to my co-worker (who donates yarn for my crocheted cancer hat project) that I could make leaves in fall colors if she had left-over yarn. She not only had yarn from an old pumpkin project, but she had a straw wreath that we could mount the leaves on as a door decoration.
The leaves are created from patterns I located over the Internet and in books I have. Some leaves are from the Lion Brand Yarn site, the acorns from 100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet by Leslie Stanfield and the oak leaves from Nicky Epstein's crochet leaves and flowers book. I also created my own leaf shape to fill in some of the spaces.
I made the hanging cord by holding 3 strands of yarn and creating a slip stitch / chain cord.
