All Too Perfect Bun Cover

Tamara Kelly

The All Too Perfect Crocheted Bun Cover got it’s start when a friend came to me with a request – bun covers for her daughter! Her beautiful girl wears them every day, but the commercial ones would wear out and were generally made for people with a whole lot more hair. As a thin-haired person myself, I could sympathize. So I designed these to fit a smaller bun – but keep reading to see how easy they are to upsize!

These crocheted bun covers are strong and easy enough to use every day, and a little bit of sparkle and bright colors make them a fun fashion statement! There are two ways to finish these. You can work the last row around an elastic hair band, or you can weave a ribbon through and use that to tie the cover around the bun. Either way, you’ll get a crocheted bun cover that only comes off when you want it to!

Materials List

  • US – D, 3.25mm hook
  • Size 3 Crochet Thread, 30-50 yards each (Aunt Lydia’s Iced Bamboo and Aunt Lydia’s Fashion Crochet 3 shown)
  • Elastic hair band or 6 mm wide ribbon

Finished Size

This bun cover was originally designed for those with small buns to cover, but if you’ve got a lot of hair it’s easy to upsize – just bump up the yarn and hook size!
