A Crochet Fix for My Email Problem

What do you do when you need to work and your email takes a vacation day?

Well you are forced to look for alternative means of communication. Sometimes I feel we rely a little too much on email. I love any excuse to get up from my desk and go visit someone in person. I am also calling coworkers more, giving us the wonderful opportunity to spend a few minutes just chatting or talking about our latest craft project. That's an opportunity I rarely take in an email.

Crochet Amigurumi - OwlBut I have to give a big shout out to Interweave Crochet's Project Editor Sarah Read for creating the best form of non-email communication I have seen yet.

Many of you may remember Owlivia, a cute crochet amigurumi from Interweave Crochet Summer 2011.

Sarah wrote a note and tied it to Owlivia's leg before tossing it across the room to Interweave Crochet's Assistant Editor Sharon. In case you can't read the words written on the message, it says, "Since I can't send email, I sent an owl." This was Sarah's version of owl post . . . inspired by one of her favorite book series, Harry Potter.

This is evidence to me that there aren't many problems that crochet and a little imagination won't fix. I would love to hear what problems, big or small, crochet has helped to fix in your life.

Best wishes,
