3 Easy Ways to Use Crochet Edgings
There are times when you feel like working on a big crochet project, and other times you just want to do a little something to keep your hands occupied. When I’m in the mood for trying out new stitches and yarns on a small scale, I turn my hook to crochet edgings. They work up quickly, plus I can always find a use for pretty trims. And they’re a great way to give a purchased item a handmade touch. Read on for some ideas below.

Spice up a tank top.
Whether you want to transform a store-bought top into something a little more special or are looking for a finishing touch for a crocheted garment, applying a trim is the perfect solution. Look for crochet edgings that can be worked into crocheted fabric, like this edging on the Basic Tank by Sara Dudek, or for a stand-alone edging that can be sewn on after the trim is complete.

Make fancy tea towels.
Given your linens a vintage touch by adding an elegant crochet edging. A special sharp crochet hook will allow you to work directly into the fabric or use a needle and thread to create a base of stitches with your crochet thread. These towels make a great last-minute housewarming gift!

Layer on the lace crochet edging.
There is no rule that says you have to put a decorative edging on the actual edge of your project. Take the Swannanoa Skirt by Natasha Robarge—the lacy edging is layered on top of the finished skirt, creating a romantic tiered effect.
