Vintage Jewelry Making Components From the Bead Hoard Curiosities Club

Just as I'm thinking about what I want to do with my beading projects and jewelry-making in 2013, what arrives in my mailbox? The January shipment of A Grain of Sand's Bead Hoard Curiosities Club!

I can never tell what's going to be in each month's club box — they're so well-packed that even shaking it gently doesn't give me a clue. But this month's box had a definite metallic sound to it when I carried it into the house. I could hardly wait to unpack it and see what was inside, and I wasn't disappointed.

The first breathtaking piece to come out of the box was this plastic lion's head focal. I can remember seeing jewelry made from these when I was a little kid back in the 1970s, and I really wanted to just drop everything and start beading this piece!
My excitement at the lion's head focal was temporarily forgotten when I saw these beautiful vintage Japanese beads and glass floral cabochon. I don't often use beads in these colors, so I'm definitely looking forward to the challenge of creating a lovely springtime necklace or bracelet with them.
And how much fun are these? More vintage Japanese jewelry-making components, these fun chain tassels will look fabulous as accents on a v-shaped right-angle weave necklace!
These black tin-cut Czech crystals will look fabulous when draped under a focal point in a festoon-style necklace, don't you think? They make me think of the jewelry worn by Queen Victoria!
Now, these amazing metal jewelry-making components really stole my heart. This month's Bead Hoard Curiosities Club included a huge bag of them! I could hardly wait to get my hole punching pliers and my Vintaj Patina Inks out and start painting and punching. These are going to make some truly amazing vintage-style jewelry!
As always, there was a fun assortment of vintage plastics, Lucite, seed beads, chain, and findings in the box, too. My five-year-old loves to help me sort and bag these up for future use!

If you loved this month's fabulous finds, stay tuned to see what I create with them! You can also join A Grain of Sand's Bead Hoard Curiosities Club and get your very own treasure box of vintage beads and findings every month, too! Club shipments go out on or close to the first of the month. Head on over to A Grain of Sand to find out more about joining the Bead Hoard Curiosities Club!
