Top 5 Tips for Starting a Jewelry Business

I have always been a fan of Nina Cooper, president and founder of Nina Designs, both as a jewelry artisan and as a business woman. She has built her business on fair-trade practices with artisans in other countries, is committed to running a green business, supports local small-business owners, and believes in the conservation of our natural resources. (Learn more about Nina and her business HERE.)A couple of years ago we interviewed Nina for our Sell and Tell column in Jewelry Stringing magazine. Here are the top five tips she shared with us for jewelry designers who are just starting a business:

1. Write a business plan.

2. Get help with your bookkeeping.

3. Start small and build up slowly.

4. Set up a good web site.

5. Wear your jewelry in public to attract potential customers.

Great advice, huh? Nina will share even more of her tips and advice in her live webinar next Tuesday, January 27th, at 1 p.m. EST. I invite you to join Nina as she discusses her 10-step business plan that encompasses what you need to start a jewelry business and maintain it over time, followed by a live question-and-answer session. If you’re even considering the idea of setting up your own jewelry business, don’t miss out on Nina’s presentation–with over 30 years of experience in running her own business, this lady knows what she’s talking about!
