Throwback Thursday: Who Would Wear It? Downton Abbey Edition

PBS’s Downton Abbey didn’t air THAT long ago–with the final episode airing on Christmas Day, 2015–but the era in which the show was set is a throw-way-back to 1912–1926.

For this Throwback Thursday, I picked four necklaces from the Elegant Jewelry From the Abbey Pattern Collection and asked some Downton Abbey fans to assign each necklace to who they think would wear it. Here are the results.

Lady Sybil Cora Branson

Smadar Grossman’s Emerald City Necklace

Smadar Grossman’s Emerald City Necklace

“I think she was unique in this family. Free of prejudice, free from narrow thinking.”
—Sarah Bunting about Sybil

I think Smadar Grossman’s Emerald City Necklace is perfect for Sybil! It’s sweet and beautiful, even though it does not necessarily fit in with the crowd.

Honorable mention: Edith came in a very close second in the voting for this necklace!

Lady Mary Josephine Talbot

Maria Rypan’s Rising Curtains Necklace

Maria Rypan’s Rising Curtains Necklace

Like a rising curtain, Mary’s coldness and bitterness at the beginning of the series gives way to her light and warmth, revealed over time as her love story plays out on Downton Abbey. Mary is the picture of grace and elegance, just like The Rising Curtain Necklace by Maria Rypan. Mary won this one by a landslide!

Lady Rose Aldridge

Julie Walker’s Chained Elegance Necklace

Julie Walker’s Chained Elegance Necklace

A kind, bubbly, and cheerful friend to the Crawley family, Rose was open to the rebellious new ideas and progressive change in society. The Chained Elegance Necklace by Julie Walker, influenced by the flapper style, has all the sparkle and swing of the roaring twenties. Rose would have worn it proudly.

Honorable mention: Rose tied with Mary in the voting for this necklace!

Edith Pelham, Marchioness of Hexham

Anna Raymond’s Symphony Necklace

Anna Raymond’s Symphony Necklace

The Symphony Necklace by Anna Raymond has a dark elegance that reflects the suffering and heartache that Edith endures. The enduring and intrepid sparkle within Edith shines through, just like the gorgeous crystals and metallic seed beads in this necklace.

Honorable mention: Violet was a very close second in the voting for this necklace!

These four necklaces, and many other gorgeous beaded jewelry designs, can be found in the Elegant Jewelry From the Abbey Pattern Collection.
