Make Plans for the 2019 SoCal Bead Shop Hop

The Southern California Local Bead Store Association (SCLBSA) will present its 2019 SoCal Bead Shop Hop on two consecutive weekends: Friday-Sunday, September 6-8 and 13-15. During the Bead Shop Hop, beaders will visit a dozen stores hosting special events and giveaways, with fun opportunities to collect charms, win prizes and – of course – shop! It’s free to participate, and it’s a great way to kick start your holiday gift making.

Collect Charms as You Hop

This year’s theme is Cartoons. As you visit each shop on the map, you’ll be welcomed with special promotions, trunk shows, make ‘n’ takes, refreshments, and more that reflect the cartoon theme. You’ll receive a different free charm at each store you visit. Once you’ve visited three stores, you’ll receive a free Bead Shop Hop charm and a charm bracelet to display all of the charms you collect along the way. When you’ve visited all 12 stores and collected their charms, then you’ll receive a Bead Shop Hop “finisher” charm. If you’ve participated in a Bead Shop Hop before, make sure you wear your bracelets from past years so you can show them off.

Bead Shop Hop Prizes

There are a variety of prizes that make the day even more fun. Tips for Bead Shop Hopping

  • It’s fun to travel with a group of friends. Call a few beaders (or wannabes); gas up your car; and hit the road together.
  • Plan out your route in advance. A map is included in the brochure, which you can download at SCLBSA.org.
  • Allow time to do Make ‘n Take projects at the shops that offer them. Some shops offer Take ‘n Makes that you can work on when you’re back at home.
  • Check the SCLBSA website for more information.

About SCLBSA

The Southern California Local Bead Store Association became a formal organization after the very first Bead Shop Hop. Founded in 2011, the group’s mission is to promote ethical business practices, extend mutual respect for all local bead stores, demonstrate diversity in the marketplace, and ensure independent, community-focused brick and mortar retail bead stores. The association also aims to create programs that promote and advance the interest of the retail bead store industry through training, education, research programs and vendor support.
