Name That Necklace: Win a Kit of Beads, Leather, Wire, and Chain from Goody Beads
We've all been there: you start working on a piece of beadwork, and just when you think you know what you're doing, you realize that you've made a humongous mistake. It's a beader's worst nightmare! (Well, that and running out of size 11 seed beads in the middle of a project, right?) In this month's Beadwork magazine Beading Challenge, read on to find out how editorial director Jean Campbell took a big "oops" and turned it into something spectacular!
"When I saw the large oval stone, I naturally stitched up a right-angle weave bezel for it. But when I was finished, the bezel wasn't quite wide enough. Argh! In frustration, I folded the bezel in half and ran it across the face of the stone. I quickly stitched a peyote strip to connect the top to the bottom of the beadwork along the back of the stone and then peppered the round stones down the front, turning my time-consuming mistake into a pretty cool embellishment!"
Would you like to play with a kit of beads, leather, wire, and chain just like the one Jean used to create the necklace in this picture? All you have to do is come up with a name for this beaded necklace and leave it here as a comment. Our editors will choose the one they like best, and the winner will receive the kit of beads and jewelry-making findings from Goody Beads pictured here!
