Name That Necklace and Win a Kit of Beads from Znet Shows!
You know that saying, "Less is more"? Whoever put together this amazing kit of glass beads, pendants, and findings from Znet Shows did a good job proving that when it comes to beads, "more" is usually better! They "warned" me ahead of time that this kit was going to include a whole lot of beads, but I was totally unprepared for what I saw when I opened the package: bags of pearls, Chinese crystal rondelles, sea glass pendants and rings, and metal clasps, in colors that reminded me of a beautiful summer day.
Really, the most challenging thing about this particular kit was choosing which beads to use. I wanted to use each and every single one, in more than one design! The sea glass rings and squares were luscious to touch, and the Chinese crystal beads and pearls spoke to my inner princess. What else could I have done with them, but combine them to make a necklace fit for royalty?
Since I was right in the middle of a bezeling kick (really, I was creating beaded bezels around anything that would hold still long enough for me to slip some netting around it), I decided to see if I could create a bezel for the sea glass squares. Well, one led to another and that led to another…making netted bezels for this project was really addicting! I was totally disappointed when I ran out of sea glass squares to bezel, because that meant it was time to figure out how I was going to connect them into some sort of meaningful beaded necklace.
Assembling the necklace and adding the swags of pearls and crystals was made much easier by the use of my trusty necklace mannequin. I did a lot of that stitching while standing up, wearing my Craft Optics so that I could see what I was doing. Getting those swags to drape just right took me way more time than it should have, but it was worth it!
Stitching up this beaded necklace was the easy part. You get the hard part — naming it! Leave a comment on this blog with your best ideas for a name for this necklace before January 16, 2014, at 12 midnight CST. Our editors will pick the name they like best, and the winner will receive their very own kit of beads from Znet Shows, exactly like the one I used to create this beaded necklace! Please note: Contest open to U.S. residents only.
Good luck, and Bead Happy!
