Take a moment to read on and learn more about this talented bead artist!
Where are you from originally, and where do you currently live? I'm from the Chicago, Illinois area, and I currently live in Modesto California.
What do you do besides beading? Do you have a day job? It is my day job! I sell my finished beaded jewelry and beadwork, teach beading, and write books on beading.
How and when did you start beading? I've always been "crafty" with needle work. In 3rd grade, my Easter present was a set of pillowcases to cross stitch! I've been beading regularly since the early 90's.
Do you prefer to work from patterns, or design your own? I always design my own.
How would you describe your personal style? I don't believe I have just one. I've always felt like I show a multi-personality with my designs. People have told me they can always tell my work and, when pressed as to how, they say the precision and quality of execution.
What other creative pursuits do you enjoy? I find beadwork so varied and satisfying that I simply stick to that.
Tell us about your beading studio… what kind of space inspires you? Any space that can handle having LOTS of supplies and a good work area is the key.
What's your beading secret weapon? It's the sheer love of doing it that keeps me motivated and inspired!
How do you stay motivated on long projects? Because I am dedicated and impatient!
What has been your favorite project recently? A tassel necklace with twisted fringe in the tassel
What's your favorite thing you've made for a customer? I love when other people want to wear my creations, but I don't have one favorite.
What would your dream studio look like? Space for organization AND space for chaos
What's your current beading soundtrack? I like to work with a DVD on in the background. Currently, I switch between a day of Harry Potter, to Lord of the Rings to The Godfather.
