LOOT 2013: MAD About Jewelry

I must say that I am envious of anyone who will be in the New York area a couple of weeks from now and will have the opportunity to stop by the Museum of Arts and Design for LOOT 2013–their 13th annual exhibition and sale of contemporary jewelry. This curated exhibit will showcase the work of over 50 of the most innovative jewelry artists from 20 different countries, featuring traditional materials such as gold, silver, pearls, and semiprecious stones, as well as more unusual materials, like 3D-printed nylon, felt, volcanic lava, recycled rope, fossils, and industrial springs. What's most exciting is that this exhibit offers the public the rare opportunity to meet and acquire pieces from these international jewelry artists. Better bring your plastic, though–prices range from $200 to $12,000, with the average piece going for around $1,000.

The exhibit runs from October 1-5, 2013 and more information can be found on MAD's web site here.
