How to: Convertible Beaded Jewelry

I'll admit it: I'm about as frugal as it gets. When I spend money, I want it to go a long way. For that reason, I find myself mainly buying accessories and clothes that I know I can mix-and-match to create many different styles or to be worn in more ways than one! And why not? With the money we spend on things these days (and we all know it's hard to fork up the money to spend on ourselves) it's easier to justify when we know we'll get our worth out of it! Some of my favorite ways to transform accessories are below! As you're peeking at some of my transformation secrets, think about how you could apply this same idea to your beaded creations.

This watch face comes with a variety of colored bands to mix-and-match to complement any outfit in your closet!
Scarves can be worn in an unlimited number of ways: a shawl, head wrap, neck tie, belt.. you name it!
These ear wires allow you to slip on any dangle you could possibly dream of. Simply create a wrapped loop on earring dangles that easily slip on and off the ear wires!

So, what do you think? What if you could create a necklace with the option of three removable focals, and you could wear all three focals, or just one. Or think about creating an earring focal that could be duplicated and joined to make a bracelet. Loving the idea behind this just as much as I am? But, struggling to see how you could dream up these things on your own? Expert beader, Lisa Kan, created a whole book, Bead Metamorphosis, filled with projects centered on this exact idea. One-hundred and sixty pages later, you'll be creating jewelry that you'll be able to wear in many ways. If you'd like a free project preview, order a copy of Beadwork, February/March 2015 for a full project excerpt that will help you see just what this book is all about!!
