Excellent New Bead Embroidery Courses from Expert Kinga Nichols
To me, the most amazing thing about bead embroidery is the fact you can create just about anything. You aren’t limited by form or structure—if you can imagine it, you can make it. And no one demonstrates this quite as well as Kinga Nichols, an award-winning bead artist, known for her artistic and unique style.
The art form of bead embroidery continues to astound me. I find myself struggling with several parts of the process—but not the imaginative part! I see so many things in nature that I want to create, patterns that inspire me. When I get stuck, I often don’t ever return to a design idea. It seems like too much work to find a resource and be able to bring my vision to life. Thankfully, we have talented artists who share their expertise. Artists like Kinga, who come to the Interweave studio and film courses to inspire beaders like me, to create anything they can imagine with easy-to-follow lessons.
Kinga’s courses are designed for beaders who already have some prior bead embroidery experience. However, Interweave also offers an online bead embroidery course for beginners, Getting Started Bead Weaving: Learn How to Embroider with Seed Beads featuring Tammy Honaman.
I have to admit, I’m a flea-market maniac! I love sifting through piles of unused treasures. Then (much to my roommate’s dismay) I leave them around the apartment for others to enjoy. One of my most popular finds is my collection of beautiful stones—ones that catch your eye from across the room! I’m also a sucker for buttons and beads and fabric and yarn. Basically any material I could someday turn into something amazing, if only I had the know-how and the time!
I often find myself starting a project, getting stuck and then shoving the work into the back of my closet to one day find and complete. (And by complete, I mean look at longingly but never actually finish). However, I’ve been able to start and actually finish a few new projects with Kinga’s courses!
Kinga’s five courses have become my go-to reference for using my flea-market finds. And because you can download the courses, you can come back to them anytime you need a quick refresher. Kinga’s courses also save a lot of time because they’re divided into manageable sections to find just the part you need. She covers so many aspects of this great art: closures, troubleshooting, finishing touches, 3D layering, and unusually shaped focals. There will be lots of reasons to come back to these now and in the future.
In addition, Kinga packs the courses full of inspiration! Her style is contagious. I find myself drawn to the artwork she makes — especially all of the fun bead embroidered animals! She even has projects inspired by her own lovable dogs who came with her to visit us in the studio.
Kinga truly looks at the world from a unique perspective, one of endless possibilities. Her personality alone suggests how creative and passionate she is about sharing her world with others. I’ve come to rely on her courses for inspiration and reference and would recommend them to anyone. Especially someone like me, who has an abundance of creativity but needs a little help to achieve those possibilities.
