Custom Wedding Jewelry

One of my friends is getting married in a few months, and as I help her plan and get all of the details finalized, I can’t help but notice how calm she is about everything. The florist can’t get the exact flowers she wants? No big deal. One of the bridesmaids has gone rogue and bought a different dress than she was asked to wear? It’s all good (as long as it’s the same color as the others’ dresses).

She’s the most relaxed bride ever about everything, except her outfit. She is absolutely ruthless when it comes to having the exact veil she saw in a magazine three years ago and the pearl-wrapped comb to accent her up-do. I don’t think that comb exists anywhere but in her imagination, though. We’ve checked every bridal boutique and website, and no one carries the comb she wants.

I know she had her heart set on wearing a pearl-embellished comb on her wedding day, and I figured we might have a pattern in a back issue of Beadwork that I could adapt to meet her wishes. I found Beaded Weddings Inspiration Book, and lo and behold! Bead-embellished combs galore! She and I feel confident we can make the comb she wants based on this design by Nancy Dale, and then her wedding outfit will be complete. Now we just have to find the exact pearls she wants. . .
